Startup Disney

Quando seu startup for ao vale do silício, por conta própria ou prêmio, cheque antes se vai passear no escritório do Facebook, do Google ou sentar na frente de 10 fundos e vender seu negócio. 

Ir ao Silicon Valley não é turismo, é business. Conhecer o datacenter do Google nao vai fazer nada por você e nem pela sua empresa.

Vá como o melhor vendedor do seu negócio. Não vá como um brasileiro deslumbrado com o "Silicon Valley", represente bem você mesmo, o seu negócio. Marque as reuniões antes, tente contatos com os fundos, vire seu network do avesso. 

Considere levantar dinheiro em Boston, em NY e em Miami. No silicon valley você compete com grupos de pessoas que estão no jogo há mais tempo, são ex-funcionários investindo em ex- funcionários. Aqui são chamados no bom sentido a "Máfia" do Paypal, do Google, do Facebook onde só investem em funcionários ou ex funcionários. 

A Califórnia é linda, mas a passeio, datacenter e escritório bacana tem em São Paulo, é mais perto e mais barato. Fica a dica.

Contraponto

Meu contraponto ao empreendedor que estava aqui esses dias reclamando das aceleradoras, incubadoras e propostas indecentes. (aliás cada dia que passa ouço mais isso)

1) A proteção mais simples e fácil contra aceleradoras, incubadoras e propostas que te parecem ruins é - NÃO OBRIGADO. Você é dono do seu nariz, maior de idade e vacinado, não gostou da proposta, não aceite e siga em frente. Existem outras 2000 aceleradoras, incubadoras e investidores no planeta. Você é tem o direito inquestionável de dizer NÃO QUERO, exerça esse direito.

2) Sobre trabalhar com pessoas que tem déficit de caráter: Impossível evitar, profissionais bons e ruins vão estar na sua e na minha vida, eles existem no mesmo mundo que você, cabe a você selecionar com quem quer se relacionar.
Até porque o seu julgamento sobre caráter só serve a você mesmo.

3) Quem copia quem? Qual é mesmo o modelo de negócio original? O NDA nao protege? Oh No, socorro Batman?!?! Existe capacidade de executar melhor, quando o Buscapé começou ao mesmo tempo 10 concorrentes pularam em cima, inclusive os grandes portais, todos fracassaram. Qual a diferença? Fazer melhor. Se alguém concorre com você olhe para frente, não fique olhando para o lado.

Pinterest Has An Invitation To The Billion Dollar Startup Club, But Will It Accept?

You know who the busiest man in the startup world is right now? Pinterest’s newly-minted CEO Ben Silbermann, who from what we’re hearing is so preoccupied with shipping product that he hasn’t been taking any investors’ calls.
And there are a lot of freakin’ calls (Fact: Silbermann’s voice mailbox is full). EVERYONE wants Pinterest to raise a C-round, and is trying every which way they can to get a precious slice of time with the modest Silbermann, who hasn’t taken a formal meeting with anybody yet according to a source, compounding the whole supply vs. demand problem.
We’re hearing that biggies DST, SequoiaBenchmark and basically name-an-important-investor all want a piece of Pinterest, at a high enough valuation to be tempting enough to first-time entrepreneur Silbermann — with people tossing out numbers in the north of a billion range.
A billion is not shocking considering the company’s scale and these frothy times, especially when we’re hearing that Quora and Instagram are also raising at about half of that.
Still it is a Pinteresting proposition (sorry), Pinterest just raised a $27 million round led byAndreessen Horowitz at a $200 million valuation, so this would mean that the company 5x’d in a little over six months. The company could easily raise another $50-70 million in this hypothetical one-billion-plus C-round, in what one investor called, “The hottest deal he’s ever seen.” Yeah, especially considering it doesn’t actually exist.
Reports of this imaginary round aside, people familiar with the matter hold that Silbermann most likely won’t raise money again, and that the current $37.5 million stash should last the 28-person team a while as they continue with their “slow and steady wins the race” mode of development. Speaking of which, Pinterest today launched a feature that allows you to change the covers on your Pinterest albums, which you can do by clicking on the album and then, “Change cover.”
Great, now I can finally get The Verge logo off the front of my Tech News pinboard. It’s the little things.
